What a fun experience and outcome! To my surprise, when I was doing the Google random number thingy, for whatever reason, I expected a random number to be reallllly...random (I don't know what that means either); when the result was number 4 on my list, I was a bit surprised! I don't know; I guess I was imagining a midrange or just a higher number? And yet, it seemed quite fitting once I saw that it was Chuck.

A little backstory: I have been providing home repair services since 2005 via Houston Honey Do (I was a sculptor and furniture maker in the years prior, while in grad school). The wife and I, along with our oldest daughter--relocated to Sugar Land, TX, outside of Houston, in 2013. Though I had been in business for quite some time at this point, I essential started over in a new area. In 2015, the oil market dropped off the map and hit the local economy hard. It was challenging for many.
Chuck was an oil industry grey-hair who lost his job in the turmoil; 5 years from retirement, he wondered what to do next; start a handyman service, maybe?
I kept getting messages from people saying, "Chuck gave me your number; he says you have a great reputation and maybe you could help me with my project? Chuck doesn't do that kind of work."
Who the hell is Chuck?

Finally, I reached out and asked him to meet for breakfast. That was three years ago and we have been in communication since.
Chuck retired last month. It took us a week to coordinate schedules but I presented him with the print--over breakfast--last Friday. When I sent him the photos from our meeting and said it was good to see him:
 
"Likewise!
 
Wife loves the print, found a place for it, just need the right frame! Will send a photo of it in its final home once it lands on the wall."
 
Congrats Chuck. That's an excellent end to a rough start...
